New York car accident hospitalizes at least four people

Car accidents can cause a wide array of injuries, both physically and financially, ranging from mild to severe. Depending on the circumstances surrounding and leading up to an accident, there is a higher chance that serious injury might occur. Some accidents are caused by reckless or negligent driving, but accidents where drugs or alcohol are a factor are often very destructive.

A car accident that occurred recently in New York exemplifies this point. According to an initial investigation, a car was driving down the road when it crossed the double yellow line, where it collided with a jeep in the opposing lane of traffic. Both drivers were airlifted to a medical center, and two of the jeep’s passengers were taken in an ambulance. It is believed that the Pontiac’s driver was impaired by drugs, and he has been officially charged, though the investigation remains underway.

In the busy streets of the city, there is an even greater chance that impaired drivers could cause a serious accident. This is perhaps the most frightening thing about car accidents: the fact that it could be entirely another person’s negligence or failings that cause the accident and turn your life upside down. The good news is that the law does not hold you responsible for being the victim of someone else’s reckless driving habits.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident because of another person, you may be entitled to compensation. You could bring a personal injury or wrongful death claim against the driver at fault. You may also enlist the help of legal assistance to handle the logistics of the case, so that you can focus on recovering from your traumatic experience.
