Product defects can occur in the manufacturing stage

Occasionally companies release dangerous or defective products into the market, either due to negligence in their testing processes or simple oversight in their design. Instances like these generally spur recalls in the defective product, and they make up many product liability cases. But sometimes products that are well-designed and have passed thorough testing can still be defective or dangerous, particularly if there is an error in the manufacturing process.

Defective manufacturing happens when a product is defective due to an unintentional error on the part of the manufacturer, usually something that was not intended to be part of the product that somehow slipped in while the product was being manufactured. A good example would be if a bottle of pills were contaminated with the wrong drug before being shipped. One simple accident or misstep could cause such a thing, and every other bottle of pills might be perfectly fine, which is what can make defective manufacturing so dangerous.

When an error is detected in the design of a product, such as overheating power cords, the company behind the product generally issues a recall of the product to protect consumers from being harmed by the defect. However, in a case of defective manufacturing, a company may not realize that the dangerous defect even exists until it is too late.

Cases involving defective manufacturing can be very complex, because there might not be other products to corroborate your claims. You must find a way to prove that your product was defective in order to bring a successful claim against the manufacturers and be compensated. Consulting with an attorney who is familiar with the product liability laws of your state can help you prove your claim and get you the compensation you deserve. If you live in the New York area and you believe you have been the victim of a defective product, consider meeting with an attorney who has experience dealing with such cases in New York.
