It seems like there is never a shortage of car accidents in New York, and this week was no exception. Just recently an accident occurred in Old Westbury, just a few short miles from New York City, when two cars collided. According to state police, a man driving a Mazda veered out of his lane and clipped another vehicle before crashing into the shoulder. The Mazda driver was killed, and the other driver reported no injuries.
Police are still trying to determine what caused the accident, claiming that speed was not likely a factor, but regardless of the circumstances of the accident, it is most certainly a tragedy. It does not matter who was at fault, when an individual is killed in a car accident, it is awful for everyone.
If you suffer serious injuries in a car accident or even serious property damage, the resulting bills may put you in a serious financial crisis. If you or someone you love is killed in a tragic accident, these issues may be even more serious. Funeral expenses and potential inability to earn wages can exacerbate the already serious emotional grief that you are going through..
Should you find yourself in a car accident, if you were not at fault, you can file a claim for compensation. Of course you will still have to prove that you were not at fault, and consulting with an attorney may help you prove fault in the case. The legal assistance offered by an attorney can be even more crucial in a fatal car accident, since a professional third party can manage the complex legal aspects of the car case so that you can focus on grieving.
