New York family’s life is turned upside down by reckless driver

The road is full of drivers, many of whom follow all of the rules and take the utmost care not to get into an accident. Most likely, you are one of those defensive drivers, and the consequences of a car accident are something that you never expected to face. Unfortunately, cars are dangerous machines, and it only takes one reckless person to cause catastrophic damage. There’s no way to tell who is or is not a safe driver, but an impaired driver is a danger to himself and his environment.

An incredible amount of damage was caused by an impaired driver in New York recently. A 20-year-old man, whose driving was allegedly impaired by drugs, was charged and ticketed for multiple offenses after driving recklessly for an extended distance. According to police, the driver was going very fast and driving in the wrong lane when he struck a Honda carrying three people.

The victims were trapped in the Honda until rescue personnel managed to free them. Unfortunately for the driver, he didn’t live past the scene of the accident. The front seat passenger survived an air-lift to a nearby Medical Center, but she couldn’t be saved. As of the time of the report, only the 11-year-old in the back seat has survived the crash, and while she has improved since the accident, she is still in serious condition.

It’s a frightening scenario to imagine, but as this case proves, it is all too real: A family is driving on the correct side of the road, not expecting any trouble, when suddenly a reckless, impaired driver crashes into them. Even if the victims were to survive, their lives might never be the same again. The law offers compensation to try to help ease the suffering of victims, but they must prove their case to the courts in order to receive it. If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident, legal assistance can help you make a strong case and get the compensation you deserve.
