Man in critical condition after accident in Queens

On Behalf of | Oct 27, 2014 | Car Accidents

Accidents can strike at any time, under any conditions. Many of us believe that we are most likely to get into a car accident while driving in a parking lot or in a traffic jam, and while that may be true, there is always the chance that you may be struck by a car when crossing the road or walking near parked cars. In one particularly bizarre case that occurred recently in New York, a man was run over by a parked vehicle.

The car accident occurred in Queens when a man lost control of his Toyota and hit a nearby parked Buick. The Buick then went over the curb and ran over the victim, who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The Toyota driver claims that his brakes failed, but police were able to use the brakes successfully multiple times.

This accident goes to show just how unpredictable and unexpected accidents are. It also illustrates how dangerous driving can cause significant damage, both to another person and another vehicle. In a city like New York, where more than 150,000 people are injured every year, these car accidents are perhaps even more likely than in other cities across the country. Fortunately, victims of a car accident have legal options.

If you are injured in a car accident, you can receive compensation for your injuries if you are able to prove that another driver was at fault. Depending on the circumstances, this may be simple or difficult. If your accident was sudden, and the circumstances were difficult to recall or record, you can enlist the help of an attorney to assist you in proving your case before the courts to get you the compensation you deserve.
