New York bicyclist fatally injured in accident

It is no secret that New York is a very popular place for bikers, with many people opting to ride bicycles in the interest of saving energy, reaping the health benefits or simply because they enjoy a nice bike ride to work or around the park. However, it is also no secret that these bikers can be involved in serious accidents from multiple sides. If the bicyclists ride on sidewalks or in parks, they run the risk of striking and injuring pedestrians, for example.

Of course some bicyclists drive on the roads, which presents its own set of problems when the aggressive car drivers of the city attempt to bully smaller bicycles on the road. Sometimes these cars simply lose control and cause serious damage, and bicyclists are caught up in the storm by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unfortunately, because bicycles are so fragile, being in the wrong place in the wrong time can end up being fatal, as one unfortunate bicyclist recently learned.

An SUV recently struck an UBER car in New York, setting off a chain of events that would lead to multiple injuries, property damage and a fatality. Officials believe that the SUV’s driver may have had a seizure, which might explain the hectic scene that unfolded. During the ensuring chaos, the SUV struck the bicyclist head on, fatally injuring him.

The particular section in which the bicyclist was killed is causing growing concern among some, as the spot has been the site for three bicycle fatalities in as many years. Also concerning is the fact that nearly twice the amount of bicyclists were killed in 2014 than in 2013. If you have lost a loved one in a bicycle accident, do not hesitate to seek legal representation. You could be entitled to compensation on your loved one’s behalf.
