Some people in New York may have purchased a Subaru Crosstrek because the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety gave it the highest safety rating. However, the vehicle has also been involved in the highest number of at-fault accidents.
Insurify, an auto insurance comparison site, conducted a survey to find out how many accidents cars were involved in. The average for all models on the road was around 13%. For the Subaru Crosstrek, it was 25.81%. This was followed by the Honda HR-V at 25.7%. Of the 10 cars on the list, only one is an American car. Two are imports from Korea while the others are from Japan. The American car, the Chevrolet Trax, was in ninth place. The Subaru WRX, in fifth place, also has proportionately more speeding offenses than any other car.
Despite the high number of accidents in the Crosstrek, drivers and passengers are sustaining fewer or less serious injuries. Safety can refer not to just the likelihood of an accident but also how safe the car will be in the event of an accident. Along with the cost of car repair, these criteria determine how high insurance premiums will be. Other cars included in the top 10 list with the most accidents were the Hyundai Elantra GT, the Mazda3, the Lexus CT and the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.
Even when vehicles have good safety features, motor vehicle accidents can lead to serious injuries. Because of the seriousness of these injuries and the cost to the people who are injured, it is important to determine who is at fault in the accident. This driver might be responsible for paying compensation to the injured individuals. If the driver has insufficient insurance or no insurance, the injured people may struggle to collect adequate compensation. They might want to file a lawsuit against the driver.
