Personal Injury Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

When you are injured in an accident, you may be full of questions — and Godosky & Gentile is here to help. While you deserve answers specific to the details of your case, there are some common questions that our attorneys hear all the time. Below are answers to some of our most common personal injury FAQs.

How Much Does A Personal Injury Lawyer Cost?

There are no upfront costs to hiring our personal injury law firm! You get started with a free initial consultation, and even then you don’t pay us until we successfully secure you compensation. And if you don’t get paid, then we don’t get paid either.

When we do recover compensation for you, we are paid a percentage of the settlement or verdict. That way, you know we are fighting for every last penny available.

How Much Money Is My Case Worth?

Every case is different, and how much your case is worth depends on a number of factors — including how much medical care you need, how well you kept medical records and even how early you get started. Our lawyers fight for compensation to cover medical treatment, property damage, lost wages, lost earning potential, pain and suffering, and more.

We are always happy to help.

I Was Injured At Work. Do I Have A Personal Injury Claim Or A Workers’ Compensation Claim?

You could have both! If you are injured on the job, you are almost always eligible for workers’ compensation benefits. And when that injury was caused by a third party — someone other than your employer — you may also have a personal injury claim against that party.

While we don’t handle workers’ compensation cases, we can evaluate what claims to compensation you do have, and help you take swift action to file a personal injury lawsuit if necessary.

What If I Can’t Afford Or Don’t Think I Need Medical Treatment?

Always immediately seek full medical treatment for your injuries. If you wait too long to do so, you may lose out on some of the compensation you deserve for your accident. Once your case is over, you should have recovered compensation for all or part of your medical treatment.

Also, seek treatment even if you feel fine. Many symptoms may develop in the future, but if you wait too long after your accident to seek treatment the other side may use this against you in your case.

Why Shouldn’t I Just Take The Insurance Company’s Offer?

Insurance companies are not on your side. They operate on a profit, and claims agents are trained to get you to settle for as little as possible, as early as possible. It’s best not to even speak to an insurance agent until you have first consulted with an attorney.
